Michaeley O’Brien has written episodes of McLeod’s Daughters (including the first and last episodes of the show), Stingers, Water Rats, Wild SideBlue Heelers (including the show’s landmark 500th episode), Sea PatrolCity Homicide, Rescue Special Ops, Old School, Wanted, Underbelly Razor and Underbelly: Fat Tony.  

 She was Head Writer on the ABC’s Serangoon Road and wrote five episodes, including the first two and last two.  Her co-written telemovie The Killing Field, starring Rebecca Gibney, was shot in her home town of Gulgong NSW and was followed by the six-part mini-series Winter. She script-produced the AACTA award winning Mystery Road for ABC-TV, writing episodes one and three.  Her episode of Mystery Road, ‘Gone’, won the 2018 Australian Writers’ Guild Award for Best Mini-Series (over four hrs), was nominated for an Edgar Award by the Mystery Writers of America, and shortlisted for the Betty Roland Prize for Scriptwriting in the 2019 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards.  She is currently writing for Season 3 of Harrow.

Michaeley has a B.A. in Journalism and more recently completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology), graduating with first class Honours.  She lives on a farm outside Gulgong, in central-west NSW, where she runs cattle and sheep with her partner.
